Mineral Resource Utilization and Environment Protection in the View of Ecological Civilization

Mining is a double-edged-sword between economic development and ecological environment protection. Years of mining exploitation did severe harm to the environment and disturbed the harmony of human be-ings and nature. In order to have a clear cognition of the current situation and impacted factors of the min-ing geologic environment problems in Ankang, field survey, document collection, and data analysis were conducted. The results indicated that: (1) the problems of water and land resources destruction, water and soil pollution, mining geological hazards, ecologic environment deterioration were common and serious; (2) few mines were treated and managed; (3) the finished mining geologic environment restoration and treat-ment project had created remarkable social, environmental and economic benefits for the local residents; (4) it is high time for us to strengthen the ecologic civilization construction by raising the concept and awareness of environment protection;(5) the view of ecological civilization is of significance to the economic and social development and, as well as the harmonious and sustainable development between human beings and na-ture.
