Electro Cardiogram (ECG) is used to measure the heart beat with help of electrodes and leads on the patient’s body and it generates electrical signals. This leads to the panic of patient. In this project a non-contact heart rate monitoring is introduced. The systematical analyze of the similarities and difference between performances of image based heart rate monitoring, laser based heart rate monitoring and the traditional ECG is proposed. The image based monitoring is a simple method for determining of physiological parameters of the face of different subjects using basic webcam. The physiological pulse waves are extracted from imaging PPG(Photoplethysmography).Photoplethysmographywas first introduced as an non-invasive optical technique through variations in transmitted and reflected ambient light .The IR light is focused on the non-contact surface, whose influence gives a relationship between ambient light intensity and the normalized PPG signals. In laser based monitoringthe laser is illuminated helium neon laser of wavelength 632.8nm and is reflected from the chest walls of patient thus we can calculate the respiration rate and heartbeat of the patient.
