OFDM is most dominating transmission technique as for high bit-rate communication systems. OFDM has experienced by one major disadvantage, i.e. peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In this paper, we apply Convolution code as well as Turbo code to curtail the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) and BER of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system, and also explore effect of these codes on PAPR and BER with respect to order of modulation, number of subcarrier and coding rate.
We also proposed method to find optimal values of Eb/No for minimum PAPR and BER based on the trade off between the numbers of assigned subcarriers, modulation and coding rate. Simulation results could prove that the proposed scheme can efficiently obtain the minimum PAPR and BER with convolution code and turbo code at optimal value of Eb/No for MIMO OFDM channel. From the obtained result it clear that, turbo code is very efficient as compared to the convolution code.
