In order to find the most appropriate one from various propagation path loss models, model selection is a crucial step in channel modeling. By treating it as a “data matching problem”, a method combined Grey Relational Grade (GRG) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) is proposed after analyzing a number of widely used path loss models. At the next stage, measurement data that derived from urban and suburban environments at 1.4 GHz are implemented for simulation and results comparison. The outcomes demonstrate that Okumura-
Hata models are relatively better than others within these two environments. Due to the result obtained at the end of this paper, the GRG-MAPE method based on Grey System Theory can be
determined as an effective methodology.
