A Convex Hexagonal Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) with parasitic plate is proposed and investigated successfully. Parasitic plate mounted on the dielectric resonator increases the bandwidth from 35.2% to 56.01% without affecting the size of antenna. The antenna is coupled with 50Ω microstrip transmission line. The result shows that the DRA with parasitic plate produces a wide band, which is 56.01% from 3.65GHz to 6.49GHz as well as a narrow band, which is 2.4% from 7.41 to 7.59 GHz. Radiation patterns are stable throughout the operating band. The result also verifies that the efficiency is approx. 90% for the bandwidth of operation. Ansoft HFSS 3-D EM solver is used to simulate the antenna performance. Such antennas are potential contender for wireless systems like WLAN and Wi-MAX applications
