An Analytical Implementation of CSMA/CA for IEEE 802.15.4 Wireless Sensor Networks

Now days, we are witnessing new paradigm in the field of Wireless Sensor Networks where embedded computing systems are interacting with physical environment. In this sector of Wireless Sensor Networks the IEEE 802.15.4 standard i.e. ZigBee standard is on fast move as it is able to achieve low-power transmissions in low-rate and short-distance wireless personal area networks. Nevertheless, several issues in the standard are still open for researchers. One of such issue is Vendor- Interoperability. To overcome this issue we started development of programmable protocol stack where the user can design own applications as required. As a part of the development we implemented the transfer of total number of bytes of data using the physical layer. In this paper our analysis is about the implementation of CSMA/CA mechanism on the top of a realistic physical layer, with respect to the IEEE 802.15.4 standard
specification.
