Cognitive radio intelligently adapts particular transmission or reception parameter by sensing the environment. It has received great attention recently for its ability to improve spectrum efficiency by enabling secondary users to access spectrum resource, when it is being unoccupied by primary users. Cognitive radio vehicular networks are composed to opportunistic use of the licensed spectrum for high-bandwidth inter-vehicular messaging, driver-assist functions, and passenger entertainment services. In CR vehicular networks where high bandwidth communication is required by fast moving vehicles, where the CR-enabled vehicles must update their spectrum data frequently and complete the data transfers with roadside base stations (BSs) in very short interaction times to find the PUs activity. The use of spectrum database have introduced additional challenges in this highly mobile environment, this can be done by the use of interference alignment. By using interference alignment, the messages transmitted between BSs and CR vehicles are done by using fewer slots than the messages that need to be transmitted. The concept of interference alignment(IA) in a practical network setting, leading to dramatic reduction in message transmission times. Power consumption is a crucial problem in communications. In this paper an energy-efficient distributed opportunistic interference alignment (OIA) scheme is introduced that greatly improves t he sum-rates in multiple-cell uplink networks while reducing the transmit power consumption between BS and CR enabled vehicles compared to the conventional OIA scheme.
