Performance analysis of ant colony based optimization in MIMO systems

Traditionally, in a multiuser system, various signals are transmitted concurrently within the same frequency band. It can result in considerable improvements in spectral efficiency as well as system capacity. This paper employs MIMO system to overcome the challenges to receiver design. The signal received at the base station or access point suffers from co channel interference and inter-symbol interference. Here an ant colony optimization algorithm assisted soft iterative detection approach for binary phase-shift keying modulated signals is presented. It uses simplified MAP criteria to extract the most probable signals from the search space. This process results that the structure of the receiver is such that it can continue operating under overloaded and critically loaded conditions. The experimental result outperforms the existing techniques in terms of Bit Error Rate( BER), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and capacity.
