A Novel Wideband Metamaterial Absorber for S-Band

This paper presents a new type of thin absorber exhibiting double negative metamaterial characteristics. A metamaterial unit cell was constructed by a circular split ring resonator. The proposed structure is composed of two concentric circular split rings imprinted on a metal-backed dielectric substrate. The electromagnetic field distributions and surface current plots have been illustrated to analyze the absorption mechanism of the proposed structure. Simulated results show a maximum absorption of around 95%.
