Ransomware Attacks: Radical Menace for Cloud Computing

Ransomware attacks have emerged as one of the new threats to cloud computing. To safeguard the cloud users and cloud service providers against these attacks requires knowledge about ransomware attacks. In this paper we have briefly discussed about types of ransomware attacks, how these attack work, which are the targets of these attacks. Moreover we have considered the impact of ransomware attacks on cloud service providers and its users. Various mitigation strategies are discussed in the paper. The survey done in the paper will help researchers to find out the solutions for currently active ransomware attacks and prevent same sort of attacks or more advanced attacks in the future too. At the end of the paper we have proposed a model that can be used at organization running on cloud services. This model will help organizations to keep ransomware attacks away from their valuable resources.
