The agricultural scenario seems to the
most promising application area for wireless
sensor network (WSN) due to the necessity of
providing the agricultural production chain in
terms of precision and quality. This involves a
careful system design, because requirements are
very strict, such as battery lifetime
maximization, robustness, recovery strategies,
network flexibility and reconfigurability.
The objective of survey is to review
various Wireless sensor network technologies
used for precision Agriculture. Wireless sensor
network for monitoring the environmental
conditions like soil temperature, soil moisture,
soil fertility, humidity, luminosity and weed
detection seems to be most suitable technique in
terms of cost and energy. Energy efficiency is
one of the most important design factors for the
WSN as the typical sensor nodes are equipped
with limited power supply. Minimizing energy
consumption and maximizing the lifetime of the
networks are key requirements in the design of
sensor network applications.
