The recent problem facing in a marine power plant are power and electrical fluctuations in the ship ac grid. This paper presents a battery power smoothing control system for eliminating these fluctuations on the ac grid. Hear the proposed system is a power variation smoothing control system using Non Linear Model Predictive Control (MPC) and additional battery. The batteries in the power producer get heated, when these fluctuations increases and affects power quality. The power variations which are fed to the battery, are counteracted over a given frequency band by a bandpass filter. State of Charge (SoC) and temperature of the battery are the two parameters, should be in limits for the battery smoothing. The main goal is to maintain these parameter within the operational limits for cancelling out the fluctuations. MPC optimizes the power producer and minimize the error for improving the efficiency.
