Reliable power supply is indispensable for control component of high voltage direct current switches. But power cannot be directly acquired from the high voltage side of smart grid. Wireless power transmission is a practicable solution for the power supply. The efficiency of wireless power transmission system is directly influenced by the efficiency of the power source. A power source system used on wireless power supply for high voltage direct current switches in smart grid is designed in this paper. The power source system consists of a radio frequency signal generator and a class E power amplifier. The circuit is simulated in Advanced Design System. A power source prototype is constructed. The simulation and the experimental results show that the power source can operate steadily with high efficiency and provide enough power for the wireless power supply system for high voltage direct current switches.
