Repetitive ignitions of SF6 gas discharge during switching operation in GIS may result in transient enclosure voltage (TEV) phenomena with the characteristics of high steepness, high amplitude and high frequency, which will disturb the electronic transformer seriously and decrease the reliability of electronic transformer dramatically. For this reason, the research about EMI mechanism of TEV disturbing the electronic transformer is carried out. In order to calculate TEV, a novel SF6 gas discharge reignition model is established and the transient characteristics of TEV in time-frequency domain are analyzed. Based on these, the structural feature and working principle of electronic transformer are studied as well. The preliminary analysis result indicate that the collection power module of electronic transformer is vulnerable to EMI. Further study is developed to understand the EMI mechanism of TEV disturbing the power module clearly. Finally, several necessary measures to restrain the EMI of TEV are put forward to improve the safety of electronic transformer.
