The reliability of power equipment, including circuit breakers, is increasingly becoming a concern for equipment operators and manufacturers, and some research on the reliability of circuit breaker and its key components has already been carried out, but the reliability requirements still lack specifics, including form and value. In this paper, the circuit breakers of typical substations in the transmission network and the distribution network are studied, and the corresponding reliability requirements of the circuit breaker are calculated after quantitative simulation of the continuity requirement of power grid. The results show that the reliability requirements of the circuit breaker varies under different grid structure and power supply continuity requirement, and with the increase of running time, the reliability requirement changes obviously. The conclusion of this paper can be used to guide the operation and maintenance management of power grid equipment.
