Circuit breakers are important equipment to control the energy distribution and fault isolation in power grid. With the development of the power grid in China, the evaluation of health status of circuit breaker in operation becomes an important part of the operation management. A number of studies have been made on the evaluation of circuit breaker health status, but are mostly limited to interpretation based on real-time performance data of circuit breakers. Based on the combination of the running time of a series of similar circuit breakers, which are selected from a database including data from over 3000 breakers in operation, and the real-time data analysis of a certain breaker, using the threshold value of key parameters obtained from experimental data, multi-dimensional condition evaluation can be carried out. The variation tendency of the evaluation result is correct, and corresponds with the experimental evaluation of mechanical properties of circuit breakers in laboratory, indicating the validity of the evaluation method.
