The objective of this paper is to determined the anode current radial distribution in the high-current vacuum arcs under axial magnetic field. The anode current radial distribution is an important physical quantity in vacuum arcs, which is particularly associated with the anode energy flux density distribution. Experiments were conducted in a demountable vacuum chamber. The arc modes observation was recorded by a high-speed CCD. Based on a special designed split anode and a a butt type cathode configuration system, it gives the anode current distribution in radial direction. An external uniform AMF ranged from 0 mT to 122 mT was applied between the contacts during the arcing time.
This experimental results will be presented in the full paper.
