Effective parameters optimization of medium frequency commutation circuit is one way to improve reliability for mechanical DC vacuum circuit breakers (VCB). First, a dynamic equivalent circuit of DC VCB was established, which based on the characteristics of medium frequency commutation circuit, the breaking capacity and parameter calculation were simulated by PSCAD, combining with the experiment method of equivalent synthetic circuit, the numerical calculation and analysis of DC short-circuit breaking in various medium frequency of commutation circuit were carried out. The motion characteristics of mechanism were designed for different experiment conditions, medium frequency parameters of commutation circuit were specified as 2k-10kHz to analysis transient breaking effect, reliable parameters of medium frequency commutation circuit were taken as the optimization objective respectively.
