This paper brings together an analysis of three empirical cases from Ghana where the creation, delivery and consumption of social services have been engineered by private actors and groups with positive impacts upon the quality and performance in various sectors. Primarily a qualitative piece, the study details the experiences of neighbourhood watchdog committees in security, Parent Teacher Associations (PTA’s) / School Management Committees(SMC’s) in education and VIP transport services in the production and delivery of public services from a developing country context.
