In this paper, a generalized biased proportional navigation (GBPN) guidance law to intercept higher-speed non-maneuvering targets at a desired impact angle is presented. By introducing a time-varying navigation ratio, the useful features of the classical proportional navigation (PN) guidance law and the recently proposed retro-proportional navigation (RPN) guidance law can be synthesized in the guidance design. And then the GBPN can determine head-on engagement (as PN) or tail-chase engagement (as RPN) through selecting appropriate initial flight-path angle. In addition, a time-varying bias term is also introduced to satisfy the impact angle constraint. The impact angles are divided into two groups based on the basic properties of the GBPN, and the impact angle control can be achieved by selecting appropriate guidance mode (PN-mode or RPN mode) to determine the direction of the trajectory of missile. Extensive simulations are conducted to verify the design features of the algorithm.
