Bearing Fault Detection of Induction Motors using Detection coils and LSSVM

Induction motors are the most popular drive equipment in industrial sector. In this paper, we address bearing fault detection of motors with detection coils and least squares support vector machine (LSSVM). Firstly, a detection scheme is proposed, where 8 pre-fixed coils sense the rotor displacements. Then, the serially connected coil pairs are processed with infinite impulse response (IIR) filters. Lastly, a LSSVM based algorithm is proposed to detect bearing faults. Experiments are carried out with an oil pump. The results convince the validity of the proposed approach.
