Analysis of Shale Gas Drilling Engineering Management Based on 5M1E

Shale gas is a new energy and different from the conventional oil and gas. Drilling is one of the most important means in shale gas exploration and development. Shale gas drilling and conventional drilling engineering has many differences and it is facing many challenges and problems. New technology and new management are needed for shale gas drilling. So total quality management(TQM) is introduced into shale gas drilling engineering in this paper. There are six factors that can affect quality control according to TQM, which are man, machine, material, method, measurement, environment (namely 5M1E). 5M1E are defined in shale gas drilling engineering and China current situation of shale gas drilling are analyzed based on 5M1E. The authors raise several suggestions to enhance the level of shale gas drilling engineering management.
