Introduction

Without the burden of physical power cables, wireless power technologies using magnetic coupling transfer power from a few milliwatts to hundreds of kilowatts with transfer distances from a few millimeters to hundreds of millimeters. It makes our lives certainly more convenient, comfortable and productive than any previous generation. In the future, wireless power technologies would be completely integrated into our daily life supplying power to our personal electronic devices, wearable/implantable electronics, home appliances and electric vehicles.

2018 Wireless Power Week (2018WPW) is the inaugural and largest wireless power event in the world, jointly cosponsored by IEEE PELS and MTT Societies. For the first time, this event combines three major conferences in the field: IEEE PELS Workshop on Emerging Technologies: Wireless Power (WoW), IEEE MTT-S Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC), and Wireless Power Congress of the Wireless Power Consortium. They will be held co-locally in Montréal, Canada, bringing together and allowing interactions of the world's experts in wireless power technologies. As a part of the 2018WPW, the IEEE WoW features keynote speeches and regular technical sessions on the theory, analysis, design, testing and applications of wireless power technologies.

Founded in 1642, Montréal has been recognized as one of the most romantic, welcoming, artistic, innovative, and diversified cultural cities in the world. It is often called the “Paris” of North‐America, because of its French heritage and flair. Montréal features the old‐world charm of a historical town and the modern cosmopolitan dynamics of a new city. It offers everything to everyone with easy access to everywhere.
