This year the theme of the annual EDEN Doctoral Seminar will be Megaprojects. Megaprojects are projects characterized by significant investments attracting a high level of public attention or political interest because of substantial direct and indirect impacts on community, environment and budgets. They are usually characterized by high technical, organizational and managerial complexity and involve a huge number of stakeholders with different interests. Megaprojects are often said to fail because they finish late and/or overspent. But megaprojects are usually complex, so small changes in input can lead to disproportionate changes in output. In this seminar we explore issues associated with the management of megaprojects.
