Introduction

In response to the characteristics of uncertain parameters, unmodeled dynamics and unknown disturbances in nonlinear mechanical systems, adaptive and robust control, as an effective way, has been proposed and developed for several decades. However, possible input, output and state constraints cause tremendous difficulties and challenges for actual physical systems, such as the restricted voltage, electric current, capacitance; the limited driving force/velocity/displacement in mechanical systems and so on. How to design an advanced adaptive and robust controller for uncertain mechanical systems with inevitable hard constraints is regarded as a crucial and challenging problem.

The purpose of this Special Session is to provide an opportunity for scientists, engineers and practitioners to propose their latest theoretical and technological achievements in constrained systems control and analysis, especially in the aforesaid aspects. All the submissions are expected to have original ideas and novel contributions to experimental applications and industrial studies as well as providing the theoretical foundation for future applications.
