Differential geometry is one of the most research intensive areas of mathematics in the late twentieth and early twenty-first century. Its current prominence stems in part from its position at a crossroads of many active fields, such as topology, metric geometry, analysis, partial differential equations, Lie and other forms of group theory, and looking beyond the confines of pure mathematics, the subject continues to influence and be influenced by theoretical physics and has a multitude of further applications as, e.g., in engineering, robotics and computer vision.
This workshop will highlight recent advances in global Riemannian and metric geometry, topology, and geometric analysis and aims at fostering communication between experts and young researchers from China and abroad as well as identifying new directions of further research in these fields to set the stage for future advances. A problem session will be held towards the end of the workshop that will mention known relevant problems in the field, but will also try to identify new problems that emerge from our discussions during the workshop.
