Introduction

The IEEE International Workshop on Electromagnetics 2018 (iWEM2018): Applications and Student Innovation Competition will be held at Nagoya Institute of Technology, Nagoya, Japan, on August 29-31, 2018. The iWEM2018 is the 9th workshop in its series and mainly focused on innovation competition for young scholars and students in the field of electromagnetic theory, antennas including terahertz frequency, wireless communications, and related applications/topics such as wireless power transmission, metamaterial devices and so forth. Wide research topics relating to electromagnetics are welcome. Fusions of ideas in a variety of topics will often bring original inventions that can be never emerged from the limited topics. Several interactive sessions will be planned for students to present their accomplishments, and exchange their ideas among young scholars and participants.

In addition, plenary, invited talks with leading researchers and several oral sessions for emerging topics will be organized during the workshop. It is our pleasure that we can provide a valuable platform for young researchers to stimulate their ideas and encourage their further progress throughout the sessions. This conference is organized and sponsored by IEEE AP-S Nagoya Chapter, and cooperatively sponsored by IEEE AP-S Tokyo/Fukuoka/Kansai Chapters, IEEE Nagoya Section, and IEICE Communications Society.

In addition to the workshop, please enjoy your staying in Nagoya. Nagoya, the fourth largest city in Japan with a population of 2.3 million, is situated at the central Japan and has good transportation from major cities in Japan and in the world. It is a city with strong cultural, historical and industrial identity. Also, Nagoya is very famous for its unique local foods which must entertain you.
We are looking forward to your participation in iWEM2018.
