Introduction

The theme of the  Fourth Luso-Afro-Brazilian Colloquium on Curricular Questions  (with which simultaneously the  9th Luso-Brazilian Colloquium of Curriculum  and the  XIII Colloquium on Curricular Questions)  will take place and will be held at the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon on September 10, 11 and 12, 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Decision-making, its meaning and nature are at the heart of curriculum building and, in the present times, decision-makers are confronted with the need to challenge the concept of "school", to rethink what is learned and taught in it and consider the blurring of boundaries between formal, non-formal and informal learning.

Questioning what is taught has meaning in any historical moment, because the values and ends associated with education change over time; what is being taught today is to get students not only to learn knowledge, but also to learn to be, learn to be and learn to live with others, according to UNESCO's ambitious agenda.

The multiple actors (national, regional and local education authorities, education specialists, school management bodies, teachers and, in some cases, pupils and educational communities as well) should be placed on this agenda and co-responsible for decision-making in the context of the curriculum, second forms of impairment of geometry varying according to time and place.

Discussing the current state of the curriculum theorizations that are being proposed is also trying to understand to what extent and to what degree of consistency they are being able to give meaning to the changes taking place in the curricular decision processes and to prospect for forms of desirable evolution. The proposed theme, although taking a dominant approach to the colloquium, does not restrict the problems that can be addressed within the framework of the themes presented.
