Introduction

The advent of significant progress in the areas of Internet of Things, Internet of Services, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber-physical systems compelled several countries to articulate strategies for the future of their economies.  One of these strategies that are articulated is what is widely known as Industrie/Industry 4.0. This Industry 4.0 vision had a huge impact on society in general and almost on all the sectors of the economy.  The changes that gave rise to Industry 4.0 require that we rethink the way we prepare tomorrow's engineers for building software-based systems.

My talk presents the challenges imposed on universities to articulate curricula that meet the needs of Industrie 4.0 and providing our students with the essential skills for the new economy.
