A compact-size optically transparent water patch antenna is designed and proposed in this conference paper. By simply incorporating an annular water ring under the water patch, the operated center frequency can be reduced from 2.3 to 1.95 GHz. Both the patch and ground plane are composed of distilled water, so that highly optical transparency can be obtained when using transparent container of plexiglass. Both simulations and measurements had been carried out for verification, and good agreements had been achieved. It turned out that the proposed compact-size transparent water patch antenna can achieve a wide impedance bandwidth of 42%, a gain up to 1.56 dBi, a radiation efficiency up to 78%, and monopolar radiation patterns over the entire operating frequencies.
