Using the in-situ non-invasive seismic tests for characterization of soil deposits is one of the most applicable approaches in the analysis of the geohazard problems. There existed many studies in literature showing the significance and efficiency of this technique for engineering geology applications. Those can yield reliable results based on the economic and environmentally-friendly strategies without any disturbance in natural structure of subsurface materials, which make them very popular in practice. In this study, three seismic wave methods were employed to explore engineering properties of granular soils based on the non-invasive techniques. One set of fundamental geotechnical parameters in the soil deposits was estimated by making use of the seismic wave velocities. In this regard, several pairs of P- and S-wave seismic refraction profiles were acquired separately at three different granular sites in Iran. The collected shot gathers were processed, from which P- , SV- and SH-wave velocities were derived. The P-wave velocity information was obtained using the Seismic Refraction Tomography (SRT) method; while, SV- and SH-wave velocities were extracted by the Multichannel Analysis of Surface-Rayleigh waves (MASW) and Multichannel Analysis of Love Waves (MALW) techniques, respectively. The resulting velocities were finally utilized to evaluate the seismic hazard, shear strength and deformation properties of foundation soils in granular sites. Additionally, a global equation was also developed to make it possible the estimation of the coefficient of lateral earth pressure at-rest (K0) based using on the modal SH/SV velocity ratios. The findings of this study may appropriately serve as the useful references for economic and non-destructive geohazard analysis in granular sites on the basis of the surface seismic surveying.
