Abstract: This paper presents a case study with the application of auto-adaptive anchor cable (AAC) in a high slope enforcement. The slope is located in the left side of the Bijie-Weining expressway, Guizhou province, which has a total length of 575 m, and a design maximum excavation height is 125 m. Affected by an active fault, the rock mass is relatively broken, joints and fissures developed. Numerical simulation and in-situ measurements are adopted in this study to investigate the slope displacements, stresses changes in the AAC during and after construction and excavation. The numerical simulation results show that the deformation of slope and the joint plastic zone are slightly reduced due to the increase of anchor reinforcement force. Attention should be paid to the protection of the slope toe rock mass to maintain the integrity of the rock mass and reduce the disturbance of the construction on the rock mass. The measurements show that the slope tends to be stable, and the slope strengthened by AAC has achieved the efficiency. It is also confirmed that AAC as a new and safe pre-stressed anchor structure can be popularized and applied in important projects in high-intensity earthquake regions.
