Abstract
词汇作为语言中最活跃的组成部分,是人类有效交际的基础。一种语言词汇的演变直接折射出该语言变化的走向和使用该语言的群体中社会发展的趋势。进入21世纪以来，变化迅速的社会生活催生了大量的新词新义，作为世界通用语言的英语尤为如此。本文以近年来出现的英语新词为例，从英语新词的定义、英语新词的判定标准、新词多方位的来源、构词的若干方式和新词的特点等角度对英语新词构词进行系统阐述，发现了英语新词有别于传统的构词方式，并指出对于英语新词的系统性研究，有利于英语学习者更好地在全球化时代的大背景中深入了解英语社会和文化的发展和掌握英语的变化路径。同时，对于英语新词的研究也为汉语新词研究以及英语新词对汉语词汇的影响等研究提供了良好的借鉴。
