Abstract
A review of nuclear fuel cycle scenario from different studies in respect of the material flow analysis which are assessed through the artificial intelligence algorithm is hereby presented from a comparative analytic point of view. Different strategies which are engaged for nuclear materials flow chain in the adopted fuel cycle option are thoroughly examined, on one hand the review covers material flow chain and the algorithm which significantly accounts for their impart in the value chain while in another instance a detection of vital nuclear material is critical to accounting and control where proliferation is averted. A scenario-based study was conducted using the IAEA’s Nuclear Fuel Cycle Simulation System (NFCSS) where a commercial PWR made up of U-Pu MOX fuel configuration is subjected to different scenarios in order to determine the nuclear material requirements needed to have a sustainable closed fuel cycle, the results of decay heat and radiotoxicity is in agreement with scenario requirement study made as a bases for material flow analysis and the response of radiotoxicity and decay heat to the input fuel and strategy parameters obtained from NFCSS is reflective of one of the indices of external cost analysis of public acceptance. This study also tends to determine the externality of nuclear fuel cycle and material flow involved based on scenario strategies.
