Introduction

The International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT), initiated by the Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, has served as a premier platform since 2005. Over the past two decades, ICWMT has been committed to advancing innovative concepts in waste management, promoting technological breakthroughs, and enhancing policy coordination to support sustainable development worldwide.

The ICWMT 21, hosted by Tsinghua University and organized by the Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, will be held in Shanghai,China from July 4 to 7, 2026. With a focus on promoting the development of "Zero-waste City" and addressing challenges in solid waste and new pollutants management, the event will include plenary sessions, 50 sessions, technical tours, and an exhibition. We cordially invite experts and scholars from around the world to join this significant gathering and contribute to the exchange of knowledge and solutions.

Submission Requirements

1. Manuscript Requirements:

Submitted papers should be scientific and practical and must not have been previously published in any public journals or presented at any national academic conferences.

2. Word Count:

3,000-5,000 words (long abstracts submitted separately must be at least 1500 words).

3.Language:

English / Chinese (preference will be given to English submissions).

4.Submission method:

Highlights of Paper Submission

1.Inclusion in Conference Proceedings: Accepted papers and abstracts will be included in the Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Waste Management and Technology. Inclusion in the conference proceedings does not affect the author’s subsequent journal submissions.

2.Outstanding papers: Papers accepted by the conference will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee of the conference, and awards and certificates will be presented to the authors of the Outstanding Papers.

3.Journal recommendations: Outstanding papers may be recommended for submission to journals supported by the conference, including 《Circular Economy》《Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering》《Resources, Conservation & Recycling Advances》《Environmental Protection》《Environmental Protection Science》.

4.Poster Presentations:Authors of submitted papers may be invited to present their work in poster sessions, which will be showcased both online and onsite.

5.Student Seminar Presentations: Students who submit papers will have the opportunity to present their work at the student seminar and receive certificates for outstanding presentations.
