Introduction
The Gordon Research Seminar on Physical Virology is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas. Recent developments in the study and applications of viruses and virus-like particles have shown their potential in diverse fields such as nanotechnology, biomedicine, and materials science. Working at the interface of chemistry, physics, and biology, investigators develop virus-based nanoparticles as addressable platforms for therapeutics and vaccines, as cargos for inorganic materials, and as dynamic self-assembling models, to name a few of many applications. This meeting offers a stimulating and non-intimidating environment for young scientists from these different disciplines to present and discuss their research in oral and poster presentations. Furthermore, the meeting will provide a mentorship component allowing participants to interact with experienced faculty members that will provide help and advice regarding future career prospects.
