Introduction
The Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) in Bioinorganic Chemistry was originally developed, in part, to the annual over-subscription of the parent Metals in Biology Gordon Research Conference (GRC). A unique feature of this conference is an overlapping session between the Bioinorganic GRS and the Metals in Biology GRC that allows students to interact with the leading principal investigators in the field. Bioinorganic chemistry incorporates several areas of scientific research including, but often not limited to, genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, as well as, analytical and physical chemistries. The Bioinorganic GRS is designed as an open forum for graduate students and postdoctoral scientists to present research at the cutting edge of the field. Discussion topics will include (but are not limited to): complex metallocofactor assembly and function, structural and spectroscopic studies on metalloproteins, environmental bioinorganic chemistry, and synthetic models and mimics of metalloprotein active sites. We invite, and encourage, students from any sub-discipline in Bioinorganic Chemistry to submit abstracts for poster and/or oral presentations. To be considered for an oral presentation for this meeting, please indicate in your interest in the "Activities" description of your application and apply for the conference by October 8, 2012. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the conference chair, Tyler Grove, or the vice chair, Arturo Pizano.
