The Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee made important arrangements for promoting integrated reform of education, science and technology, and talent systems. It clarified the fundamental and strategic supporting role of education, science and technology, and talent in Chinese-style modernization. The year 2026 marks the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, whose outline explicitly proposes integrated advancement of education, science and technology, and talent development, aiming to build a self-reliant cultivation system for outstanding engineers through industry-education integration — further guiding the deepening of engineering education reform and innovative engineering talent training. Currently, engineering education faces multiple challenges and opportunities: rapid iteration of AI technologies, deepening Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and accelerated industrial transformation and upgrading. To thoroughly implement national strategies and promote innovation in talent cultivation models in chemical and related engineering fields, the China Chemical Society plans to hold the “4th Green Engineering Education and Future Engineers Forum” in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, from August 21–23, 2026, hosted by Guizhou University. This forum takes as its theme “Human-Centered • Intelligent • Green: Co-Creating a New Ecosystem for Engineering Education”, focusing on core topics including human-centered engineering ethics, AI-enabled intelligent chemical engineering, construction of first-class majors, industry-education collaborative talent cultivation, and future engineer education. Centered on frontier issues in chemical engineering education, and combining practice-oriented and system-integrated positioning, the forum builds a high-level interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral exchange platform. It explores how engineering education can respond to the human-centered philosophy of Industry 5.0, the profound impact of generative AI and other emerging technologies on teaching models, and practical demands of carbon neutrality (“dual-carbon”) and green development — contributing wisdom and solutions to high-quality development of engineering education in China and global sustainable development.
