The Anti-Seismic Systems International Society (ASSISi) and the Japan Society of Seismic Isolation (JSSI) are very pleased to welcome you to Sendai, Japan for the 13th World Conference on Seismic Isolation, Energy Dissipation and Active Vibration Control of Structures (13WCSI) commemorating JSSI 20th Anniversary , held September 24-27, 2013.
Seismic isolation, energy dissipation and active vibration control have been recognized as promising technologies to mitigate structural damage in buildings subjected to severe earthquakes. In Japan, these technologies have been widely applied to buildings for almost 30 years, especially after the 1995 Kobe Earthquake. Furthermore, buildings with these technologies have exhibited the high performance levels expected, even in the disastrous 2011 Tohoku Earthquake.
This conference is aimed at gathering researchers, engineers and other specialists from around the world, to share the results of cutting-edge research and development concerning anti-seismic technologies in a free and open atmosphere. For the conference, we are planning lively presentations and discussions, a pleasant reception, a visit to seismically isolated buildings and a one-day excursion to the tsunami affected area by the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake.
We believe that all participants will have significant outcomes both professionally and personally. We are looking forward to seeing you in Sendai soon.
