Introduction
Computer Graphics activities started at the Institute of Technology in Plzen, a predecessor of the University of West Bohemia, in 1975. After the changes in 1989, when the Eastern block was "dissolved", it was understood that it is necessary to widen collaboration in all fields of Computer Graphics and in research in general. It was decided to establish regular events that would bring experts from the former Czechoslovakia together. The WSCG event started as the Winter School of Computer Graphics with about 20 participants from the former Czechoslovakia, currently Czech and Slovak Republics. It was held in December 1992 in a small village close to the Germany border at the university training center Rybniky. The participants met in the period when the Czechoslovakia was to be split to two countries in January next year. In January 19-20, 1994, the second event was held as an international event at the University of West Bohemia in Plzen that enabled participants from the former Czechoslovakia to widen their knowledge in the field of Computer Graphics theory and its applications. The WSCG'94 event was partially kept in Czech, Slovak and English. In 1994 it was decided to keep the WSCG events as regular events at which the West and East experts can meet. The title was changed to WSCG - International Conference in Central Europe on Computer Graphics, Visualization and Computer Vision The titles of the WSCG conferences reflect somehow the development in the field and therefore the titles have been slightly changed to Computer Graphics, Visualization and Interactive Digital Media in 1999 and latter on to Computer Graphics, Visualization and Computer Vision for year 2001. All accepted and presented papers have published in WSCG proceedings with ISBN since 1992. The best selected papers are published in the Journal of WSCG while Full / Communication / Short papers and Posters are published in proceedings with ISBN.
