Introduction

The First International Conference on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language was held on March 4th, 2007 with over 200 participants from across nation and abroad. After six years practice, most colleagues urged us to host the 2nd Conference to meet the needs for learning new findings of research and studies on Chinese linguistics and Chinese teaching, adopting new theories of Chinese knowledge and teaching pedagogy, using the most recent techniques in language teaching, and effectively promoting Chinese language and culture education in North America.
