Introduction
The Oriental Chapter of COCOSDA (International Committee for the Co-ordination and Standardization of Speech Databases and Assessment Techniques)/ CASLRE (Conference on Asian Spoken Language Research and Evaluation) is pleased to announce that the 17th Oriental COCOSDA Conference will be held during September 10-12, 2014 at Phuket Island, Thailand. The conference is jointly organized with Chulalongkorn University, Prince Songkla University, and Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology. Oriental COCOSDA/CASLRE is an international conference held annually by the oriental chapter of COCOSDA. It aims at boosting the research and development in the field of speech databases and speech technology and enthusing the interests towards spoken language research in East and Southeast Asia. The past Oriental COCOSDA Conferences were held in Japan, Taiwan, China, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, China, Nepal, Taiwan, Macau, and India. The Oriental COCOSDA Conference 2014 in Phuket, Thailand is registered as a Satellite Workshop (an ISCA supported event) of INTERSPEECH 2014, the world largest speech communication conference, and is now included in the IEEE's Conference Publication Program. This means that the Oriental COCOSDA 2014 proceedings of accepted papers for oral presentations will be indexed and published online on IEEE Xplore. Papers are invited to report substantial, original and unpublished research on all aspects of speech databases, assessments and speech processing, including, but not limited to: Assessment of speech input and output technologies Multilingual speech corpora Phonetic/phonological systems for oriental languages Romanization of Non- Roman Characters Segmentation and labeling Speech databases and text corpora Speech processing and applications Speech prosody Standards in annotation and evaluation Any other relevant topics
