On behalf of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), the symposium Organizing committee is pleased to welcome you to "The 6th ISHS Balkan Symposium on Vegetables and Potatoes" (BSVP). The Symposium will be held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, from September 29 to October 2, 2014, at Hotel International.
This Symposium has a continuous tradition since 1996 when the first one was held in Belgrade (Yugoslavia). After that, BSVP was organized in Thessaloniki (Greece), Bursa (Turkey), Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and Tirana (Albania). As a result of this tradition, under the auspices of ISHS, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb (Croatia) was nominated and selected to host the "6th ISHS Balkan Symposium on Vegetables and Potatoes", with the aims of further promoting the communication and cooperation among the researchers, companies and growers.
The topics will focus on the fields of vegetables and potato production technologies, product and post-harvest quality, plant genetic resources and breeding, plant propagation, plant protection, economics and management. Special session entitled "Balkan Protected Cultivation" will be organized with the aim to overview the situation for all Balkan countries, to present the specific problems from each country as well as the trends for the future.
English is the official language of the symposium and will be used in all correspondences, presentations (oral, poster, exhibition etc.) and publications.
