Applications and experiments in all areas of science and engineering are becoming increasingly complex and more demanding in terms of their computational and data requirements. Some applications generate data volumes reaching hundreds of terabytes and even petabytes. Analyzing, visualizing, and disseminating these large data sets has become a major challenge. On the other hand, large-scale distributed computing systems and data analysis techniques have seen rapid development which addresses various demands for big data management and analysis. However, people in different domain are developing their own infrastructures for no particular reason and it is hard to answer the question which infrastructure or techniques are suitable for what kind of workloads. DataCloud 2015 will provide invited talk based forum with a focused topic: data analysis infrastructure and use cases at large scale. In the one-day workshop, we will have a number of invited talks and lightning talks to share experiences and ideas in large-scale data analysis from people from different communities, organizations, and with different expertises.
