In recently years, a fast development of mobile electronics and sensor networks desperately need the supplies of power sources that will meet the independent, sustainable, maintain-free and continuous operations of small electronics. This trend of self-powering technologies is widely driven by applications of nanosensors in medical, environmental, infrastructure monitoring, internet of things and defenses. Nanoenergy is about the applications of nanomaterials and nanotechnology for harvesting energy from our living environment for powering micro/nano-systems. Nanomaterials will also have a broad impact to the large-scale energy, including energy harvesting, power management and energy storage. By integrating mobile power sources with a sensor network, a revolutionary technology is being incubated that will link the objects worldwide in the next 10 years.
