SPE/AAPG Colombia Offshore—Challenges and Opportunities for an Emerging Industry Workshop

With the favorable oil and gas business environment and geological potential in Latin America and the Caribbean, the stage is set for Colombia concerning growing economic opportunities related to the offshore business.

This workshop will provide an opportunity to exchange of ideas to best leverage technology, processes, and lessons learned from other offshore regions. The intent of this event is to share ideas with those involved in planning and executing offshore projects in the Latin America and Caribbean region. The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) are committed to promoting the dissemination and transfer of technical knowledge, and improving the offshore exploration and operation of oil resources in the region.

The workshop will focus on topics that are relevant to Colombia and the region’s emerging challenges through discussions about

Lessons learned and best practices from other offshore regions, both shallow and deepwater
Environmental impact with technology and practices from other offshore regions
Social responsibility issues associated with the offshore industry
Discussion on the present Colombia, Peru and Ecuador offshore challenge
