Introduction

Urban computing is the communication and computation process to understand and coordinate the environment, systems, people and things in the city. Smart city infrastructures and systems as well as intelligent urban computing helps the city administrators better understand and react to the metropolitan needs, challenges, as well as the operation of urban infrastructural systems. Information and communication systems play a critical role in building smart cities and supporting comprehensive urban informatics. There is a growing importance of ICTs, social and environmental capital in profiling the competitiveness of cities.
