Introduction

Healthcare systems worldwide continue to strive for innovative approaches all levels of care delivery. Software Engineering will continue to play a crucial role in healthcare transformation. The goal of the International Workshop on Software Engineering in Healthcare Systems (SEHS) is to share and discuss recent advances in software engineering to drive healthcare transformation through innovation and integration at the micro, meso and macro levels. The workshop integrates the Foundations in Health Information and Systems (FHIES) and Software Engineering in Health Care (SEHC) communities.

Software quality, user interfaces, systems interoperability, safety, security, workflow integration, system quality, compliance and regulatory issues, revolution of the software development process, software engineering and healthcare innovation and transformation, and data analytics are just a few of the issues that our community faces. For the 2016 SEHS workshop we invite submissions that explore the above challenges (as well as other software engineering topics relevant to healthcare systems and processes) and the role that software engineering plays in developing solutions to address them.
