Our goal is to describe how the emergence of an ethnographic and experiential course for studying business in China was developed at the University of Nottingham in Ningbo. We begin by describing the need for such courses. We explore the challenges faced by teachers in China who may find that many of the available teaching materials do not satisfy the needs of in country students. We offer a solution that draws on institutional and entrepreneurship theory.
