Introduction
The Belt and Road (B&R) initiative is a development strategy started by the Chinese government in 2013. B&R refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road. The former links China with Europe through Central and Western Asia, and the latter connects China with Southeast Asian countries, Africa and Europe.
